COVENANT GROUPS AT KUUC
It is time to consider joining a Covenant Group at KUUC! Are you looking for a way to grow in your connection to the people who are in our KUUC community? Would you like to make the time and space in your life to explore spiritual and life relevant topics? Have you participated in a Covenant Group before and would like to again? Would you like to try something new and meaningful?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then a Covenant Group may be for you. A Covenant Group follows a specific format of a chalice-lighting, readings, participant check-in, and some thought-provoking questions which lead to deep and meaningful discussions. It has a goal of allowing participants to deepen their spiritual understanding and to grow in friendship. Trained facilitators lead each group and coordinate the meetings.
If you would like to join a Covenant Group for the 2011-2012 church year, please contact the church office, either by phone (352-1719, ext. 0), or by email (office@kuuc.org). Sign-up sheets are due in the church office by Monday, Oct. 3, 2011. If you would like more information about Covenant Groups, you may call Gareth Williams at 352-6355.
START OF THE HEATING SEASON!
As we have had some very cool weather recently, we have now turned the heat on in the church. In keeping with our Green Sanctuary values, please be sure to close all doors and windows tightly, and close any window curtains after using a room, if applicable. Not only would we like to reduce the cost of our heating bill, but we would like to do our part to create a greener church, a greener community, and a greener world. Also, please note that the overhead ceiling fans in the Parish Hall and in the Sanctuary are to be kept running at all times. The ceiling fans move warmer air down from the ceiling, and help to greatly reduce our heating needs. Thank you all very much for your awareness and your cooperation.
CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS!
Shawls of Love is a group who makes shawls for KUUC members who are experiencing life-changing events. Many shawls have been given out in the past few months, and the inventory is now low. All knitters and/or crocheters are encouraged to join us in making shawls. There is an ample supply of donated yarn in the church Library. If you want to learn how to make a shawl, there are patterns and help available. Knitting may be done with the group on Sundays from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm in the Library, or at home at your convenience. Finished shawls should be left in the church Library near the yarn with your name on them. Thanks to all those who have made shawls in the past. They are much appreciated!
GREENS SALE LUNCHEON
Believe it or not, the KUUC Greens Sale is just around the corner. Saturday, December 3 will be here all too soon! As the Luncheon Organizer will be out of town for a good chunk of November, recruiting for helpers is starting now!
The menu for the Greens Sale Luncheon has traditionally been hearty soups, breads, green salads, pies, and beverages. Cooks, helpers for set-up and clean-up, and “wait-staff” will all be needed. Please contact Ann Shedd (352-0720, or LadyLeafy@gmail.com) if you can help out. (It seems that in the past the Luncheon was a “Guy Thing,” so if you are a Man Who Cooks and would like to be part of this fun event, please be in touch.)
